About the Project

Digitalization in our society and in healthcare is increasingly affecting the work of nurses. Nurses play a crucial role in using and promoting digitalization, yet they often lack the needed skills to efficiently use digital tools. Including nursing informatics skills in Vocational Education and Training would enhance their employability in various roles, support their personal development and foster modern health care. Our aim is thus to promote competencies in nursing informatics for nursing VET students (“initial VET”) and for professional nurses (“continuing VET”). In Kosovo, in line with the Kosovo Education Strategy Plan, the focus of this project is on providing nursing informatics skills for nursing students in secondary education and on offering C-VET for nursing professionals. In Israel, our focus is on training professional nurses in telehealth and telenursing as part of the national strategy on digital health care.

Objectives

Objective #1

To establish, pilot and evaluate a professional education program in nursing informatics,
flexibly responding to the needs of nurses, and thus offering both shorter nano courses as well as a longer certificate courses. Its curriculum is based on international recommendations for digital competencies in nursing and tailored to the local needs. It fosters life-long learning by offering individual flexible learning pathways and thus enhances 21st century digital competencies of nursing professionals, improving and extending their job opportunities.

Objective 2:

To close the gap between available and required digital skills for nurses, by training digital competencies that allow nurses to act as agent for digital transformation in health care.

Objective 3:

To establish and foster innovative competence-oriented teaching methods, including blended learning, flipped classroom,competence-oriented assessment, adapted to the needs of continuing
professional education for nurses working in practice,

Objective 4:

To implement a train-the-trainer approach to

enhance and guarantee quality of teaching and

to ensure the sustainability of the project.

Objective 5

To raise awareness of the role of nursing informatics specialists and about job opportunities in the context of a high-quality healthcare to stakeholder of the regional and national labour market (i.e., health care organization, nursing organizations, politics) and to build sustainable networks of nursing informatics professionals.
