Successful Launch of the Nano-Course on Electronic Health Records at Universum International College

Universum International College successfully delivered the pilot nano-course on Electronic Health Records (EHR) as part of the 6th-semester Nursing. This innovative learning initiative aims to strengthen digital competencies among future nurses and prepare them for the evolving technological landscape in healthcare.

Taught in Albanian and led by Prof. Arjona Morina, the course reinforced foundational skills in nursing informatics, requiring students to enter with basic knowledge in this area. The instructional approach was entirely face-to-face, allowing for direct interaction, demonstrations, and skill-based learning.

Throughout the training, students explored several key areas:

  • Discovering the role of patient portals and the impact of EHRs on efficiency in healthcare delivery
  • Understanding the components and architecture of Electronic Health Records
  • Recognizing the role of EHRs in patient safety and effective data management
  • Gaining practical experience in navigating and entering information in an EHR
  • Exploring data entry and retrieval processes
  • Reviewing patient privacy, security principles, and legal considerations
  • Learning about interoperability and the importance of connected healthcare systems

The successful delivery of this pilot nano-course marks a significant step in enhancing digital literacy among nursing students at Universum International College. As healthcare systems increasingly adopt electronic solutions, equipping future professionals with these competencies becomes essential.

The high level of student engagement and motivation showcased during the course reflects the growing awareness of how digital tools can improve patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, and interprofessional collaboration.

Universum International College looks forward to expanding similar initiatives and continuing to support the development of a digitally empowered healthcare workforce in Kosovo.
